TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress 是一个视频编码转换软件，只能转格式，不能制作DVD。
TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 With DivX Authoring 是一个DVD视频光盘打包制作软件。

TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress 转换出的MPG文件可以作为 TMPGEnc DVD Author 的源文件用于DVD视频的制作。

如果添加到 TMPGEnc DVD Author 的源文件不是符合DVD标准的MPG格式，则TMPGEnc DVD Author 也可以像 TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress 那样先对源文件进行转换，然后再打包制作成DVD，但是 TMPGEnc DVD Author 在码率控制方面没有 TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress 灵活。
