是否更新到最新版本？是否开启了客人发帖？是否使用某种防注册机制？

没有开启客人发帖。垃圾贴是用户发的。

注册时有验证码，但是是最低级的、十分清晰的验证码。

也有E-mail地址检测，但是好像不起作用，无法检测是否真实邮箱地址，因为发垃圾贴的用户注册的邮箱都是假邮箱。

论坛归属学校的研究机构，网络公司给做的，俺只懂管理，不懂得这些设置和升级啥的。

1、众所周知，验证码已经拦不住注册机了。问题不在验证码上。
2、“E-mail地址检测”不起作用是不可能的，是你的设置有误。你应该选择“发送密码到注册时使用的邮箱”这个选项。这样如果注册者提交了杜撰的假信箱，则无法收到系统随机生成的登录密码，自然也就无法登录。

你没有提你的版本和论坛网址，无法作更具针对性的回答。
